1.We believe and bear witness to the following historic truths of the Christian faith:
•The Trinity
We believe in the one living God, revealed through the Bible as the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit.
•God the Father as Creator
The universe is the creation of the living God and reveals His existence, power and glory. We were created by
God in His image to bring Him glory, we do this by loving and obeying Him, relating to one another with love
and compassion and by caring for His creation.
•Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour
We believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God, the Messiah appointed by God to bring the blessing of
salvation to the world. Jesus Christ took on human nature and yet remained God. When he died upon the
cross he took on the sin of the world so that we may be put right with God through his grace and faith in
Christ alone. Through his resurrection he defeated death and made a way for us to be with God forever.
•The Holy Spirit
The Bible testifies to the Holy Spirit’s involvement in creation and history. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin
and the need for repentance, leading us to faith in Christ and uniting us with Him. The Spirit empowers and
enables Christian believers to live in unity and bear the fruit of the spirit, refining us and helping us to become
more Christ like.
•The Word of God
We believe the Bible to be the Word of God and depend upon it as the revelation of God’s character and
purposes and submit to it as supremely authoritative for our belief and behaviour.
•The Great Commission
Jesus said:
‘Therefore go a make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age.’ Matthew 18: 19-20
2.God commands us to love him with all our heart, soul and strength and to love our neighbour as ourselves. Therefore we commit:
•To make known to all the Gospel of God’s grace through his forgiveness in Christ, calling people to faith, repentance and discipleship.
•To demonstrate through our actions the values and love of the Kingdom of God.
•To serve those in need with compassion and to pursue justice and peace, caring for God’s creation.
